Our toddler group had an outing at a local farm today to pick strawberries. 40 toddlers and 25 parents. It was a real challenge to get pictures without other children in the background! The weather was beautiful after a week of chilly rain and everyone had a blast!
We started off with a wagon ride pulled by a John Deere tractor. DJ was in heaven. Each toddler was given a pint container to fill with strawberries. Yum!
After a wagon ride back to the barn, each child was given an empty plant pot and told to fill it with dirt. Yes, please! Then they planted a seed in the middle. DJ chose a pumpkin seed. After instructions to give the seed plenty of water and sun at home, the kids were released to the play area.
The entire time that we were there, the farmer (who we met last year) was out in the field plowing it to plant corn. DJ paused his play several times to watch. Then just as we were ready to leave, the farmer happened to drive near us. He stopped the tractor and asked DJ if he wanted to drive it!! So DJ got up into the driver's seat. He was a little nervous because the engine was loud and shaking, so I held his hand and didn't get a picture. But wow, what a nice farmer!
